A fine view of Mam Tor which features an early Iron Age hill fort dating from circa 1200 BC Mam Tor is also known as the Shivering Mountain because its underlying shale layers have a tendency to wander We stop for a pre-lunch nibble at the bottom of the Mam Tor path Up on the top (517 metres) the view across the Vale of Edale is splendid More views across the Vale of Edale
